Main speaker and speakers for the different
sessions
Towards a New Contract
Between Universities and Society?
A historical
sociological perspective on the Lisbon Strategy and EU policies
of higher education and research
Bergen - May 18-19, 2006
The main
speaker will be Professor dr. habil Hannes
Siegrist, University of Leipzig, Institute for culture.
Professor Siegrist has published extensively on topics relevant
for the study of professions, industrial organisations and
management, and lately on intellectual property rights. He
is an historian.
Professor Siegrist will give two plenary speeches
at the conference:
"The historical construction of professions
in Europe and the role of the university"
and
"Expanding intellectual property rights.
The propertization of culture and knowledge in modern societies"
Other speakers during the
different sessions will be:
Professor Peter Maassen,
University of Oslo has published extensively on a number of
issues relating to the reforms of higher education both in
Europe and developing countries. He is currently also in charge
of an Erasmus Mundus programme on management of higher education
and organisations.
Research fellow Marte
Mangset has already published a number of articles on
the Bologna process. She is in particular writing about changes
in the disciplines (example History), and how these changes
relate to the broader European context.
Professor Damtew
Teferra, Boston University College, has published extensively
on the role of higher education in Africa, the role of education
for development, and the relation between Europe and Africa
in the fields of knowledge.
Associate professor
Svein
Michelsen, University of Bergen, Department of Administration
and Organisation Theory, is in charge of the research project
on the Norwegian Quality Reform, a reform which is also seen
as the implementation of the Bologna Process in Norway.
Professor Ivar
Bleiklie, University of Bergen, Department of Administration
and Organization Theory is involved in several research projects
on reforms in different sectors and institutional settings.
He has published extensively on higher education reforms and
is currently involved in a project on the steering of research
in Universities.
Professor Maurice
Kogan, director of the Centre for the Evaluation of Public
Policy and Practice and Professor Emeritus of Government at
Brunel University, UK. Professor Kogan has published extensively
on education, higher education, science and health policy.
Professor Jane
Kelsey, School
of law, University of Auckland, New Zealand.
Professor Kelsey has done research on international economic
law and neoliberalism, including the privatization of universities
in her home country, New Zealand. She is also well-known activist
and international campainger.
